Ave Oncovia!

Today spotlight on one of our partners, Oncovia!  Not only were they recently nominated for the Madame Figaro “Business with Attitude Award” for which they were amongst the 6 finalists but just yesterday, they were featured on the “cover” of  pretigeous FORBES online.

The Oncovia start-up was founded in 2011 by sisters Cindy Bringuier and Marine Perrin who decided that the time had come to better accompany women with and recovering from cancer by proposing a very wide range of cosmetics, accessories and wigs online to these specific consumers thus helping them to feel feminine again.

It was after the loss of their mother to this terrible illness that Cindy and Marine became even more aware that something was lacking in the market – on-going after care and accompaniment. Cindy remembers taking her mother to an orthopaedic centre in the quest for a bra after her breast cancer.  Not only was there very little choice but the venue left little to be desired.  Whilst pharmacies and orthopaedic centres “do the job” they cannot really be considered as specialists in the field and sadly, specialised boutiques are few and far between, especially in the provinces.  There is also the issue of patient comfort … when your feeling poorly and tired patients often prefer to stay at home rather than driving for hours to find that specific product or accessory.  So that is how the Oncovia merchant site was born!

In the beginning the sisters invested personal funds into the project but now other investors have joined them and they have also benefitted from an intrest-free loan from RAISE for 100K€

Today Oncovia counts an 18 000 client base with a project to go global – German and English versions of the merchant site are in the pipeline.  The selection of products has been carefully vetted by Cindy and Marine and all the boxes have been ticked to ensure comfort, quality and style.  Delivery is rapid and discreet (sadly anything to do with the “Big C” is still stigmatic) and free return is assured if necessary.

During 2017 Oncovia also plans to open a showroom in the French capital’s 9th district, a peaceful oasis where prospective clients can discover, try  and test the new collections as well as enjoying holistic activities such as reflexology, acupuncture and sophrology.  There will also be an in-house specialised beautician on hand to give advice and carry out well-being treatments such as relaxing head massages.

Now accompanied by experienced and seasoned investors, Oncovia has all the assets to fulfill its destiny and above all allow women with and recovering from cancer to learn to live again … and that’s … golden!
